Can you automate policy updates?

The update decision itself – what within the content should change and why – still needs a person. But you can automate the admin around it: update reminders, approval routing, version control, and communication to the right audience once you republish a policy.

It’s worth keeping this separate from re-attestation, which is easy to conflate since both often run on similar-sounding annual cycles. Updating a policy means changing the document itself; re-attestation means asking readers to reconfirm they’ve read it, on its own recurring schedule (commonly every 12 months), independent of whether the document changed. You can automate both, but they’re two different settings, not one.
